A dental implant is an “artificial root” to be implanted during dental implantation procedure in the jawbone, in order to create a denture.
Dental implants are made of pure non-alloy titanium. This so-called biocompatible material is completely accepted by the human body. Due to their threaded layout, they are integrated into the jawbone extremely quickly and effectively.
Raw materials used during dental implantation fully meet the most strict standards and requirements, while currently used implantation systems also comply with international quality assurance standards.
A dental implant can be implanted when one or more teeth are missing between two teeth. In this case dental prosthesis is created only by securing it to the implant(s) without grinding down the adjacent teeth.
When teeth are missing in the back region, wearing removable denture can be avoided by implant placement. After finishing the fixed denture, full chewing function can be guaranteed.
For toothless patients, wearing removable denture may be uncomfortable in many cases. However, by dental implantation many types of dentures that may significantly improve their quality of life can be created.
Naturally, the type of dental replacement depends on the number and location of implanted artificial roots.
Where possible, the whole dentition may be replaced by a fixed denture, but other solutions may also be adopted, such as dentures secured on 2-4-6 implants (All-on-4 or All-on-6). During dental implantation, a final solution is chosen individually in each case, according to the patient's needs and possibilities.
Dental implantation is usually performed under local anaesthesia. After injecting a proper anaesthetic, “numbness” occurs quickly, and thus the surgery can be performed without any pain.
Our treating dentist will prepare the implant bed with dental drills of various sizes, and then he or she will place the implants in their previously planned proper positions. Implants will be covered with “closure screws” and then wound edges will be joined by sutures. If no incision is performed during surgery, no sutures will be needed.
Healing promoting method applied during surgical interventions accompanied by bleeding. In a centrifuge, plasma is extracted from the patient’s own blood; this plasma will contain autogenic platelets in a higher concentration than normal plasma.
It is used in multiple medical fields, such as parodontology, oral surgery, traumatology or orthopaedic surgery. It is used in many conditions including burns, plastic surgery procedures, interventions for bone fractures to increase efficiency of bone replacement (filling of sinuses, bone blocks, tooth extraction wounds, cystic cavities etc.).
Growth factors enhance the activation of tissue regenerating processes. Their most important role is to support the success of bone replacements, since they work during the early phases of bone remodelling. Furthermore, it is essential for elderly people and for patients with any medical condition, where time-course of healing is delayed or disturbed.
Faster healing is achieved, which decreases the chances for inflammation, duration of the painful period and the frequency of bone implant rejection.
Dental implantation is considered successful, if there is no pain or foreign body sensation and no inflammation around the implant, also, the implant does not come loose and no osteoporosis is seen around the implant on X-ray imaging. Thus, “successful dental implantation” refers with great emphasis to a long-term success. This therefore implies that the implanting dentist on the one hand and the patient wearing the implant on the other hand can do a lot for the success.
Both literature on dental implants and our surveys show that implants have a success rate of over 98%. The rate of failure that has now been reduced to a minimum, can be further reduced by new implantations replacing failed implants, taking into account and depending on professional considerations. Based on the above, we can say that unsuccessful dental implantation is very rare.
